The skippers whose sailing teams will compete in this year’s Congressional Cup regatta, in Long Beach, are set — mostly.
The Congressional Cup, which organizers have long described as the “granddaddy of match racing” regattas, will return to Long Beach for its 58th iteration from April 18 to 22, with 10 teams sailing near the Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier.
The Long Beach Yacht Club, which hosts the annual competition, announced eight of the 10 skippers who will participate in the Congressional Cup earlier this week. The final spots will go to the top two finishers of the Ficker Cup regatta, which will take place the week before, also in Long Beach.
